What does the team need to find out about the patient?Tap a term: its definition, what you can do with it, and how often the exam asks it.
Definition: a carer questionnaire rating cognitive decline over ten years.
You can: Tell the IQCODE from CAMDEX by whether a carer alone answers.
Definition: a full structured battery with patient interview, carer history and the CAMCOG.
You can: Tell CAMDEX from the IQCODE by its added patient interview and scored test.

Summary
The IQCODE is an informant questionnaire in which a carer rates how much a person's cognition has declined over the previous ten years.
The IQCODE is an questionnaire in which a carer rates how much a person's cognition has declined over the previous ten years.
, the Cambridge Examination for Mental Disorders of the Elderly, is a thorough structured battery. CAMDEX combines a patient interview, an informant history and the CAMCOG. Clinicians use CAMDEX to diagnose and differentiate dementias in complex cases.
The IQCODE asks a carer to compare the person's everyday thinking now with ten years ago. The patient is usually the main source of history. Caregivers or family can confirm the history, so an informant tool is useful. An informant is a carer or relative who knows the person well. A higher IQCODE score means more decline.
Mr Okafor attends a memory clinic with his daughter. His daughter says, "Dad has slipped slowly since he retired ten years ago."
The IQCODE uses carer answers alone. CAMDEX adds the patient's own interview and a scored cognitive test.
The CAMCOG is the cognitive section of CAMDEX, so CAMDEX includes a scored cognitive test. A full assessment seeks corroborating information from family as well as the patient's own account.
Candidates pick the MMSE for every memory clinic question. Read what the question asks to measure before choosing a tool. A question about decline over ten years, answered by a carer, needs the IQCODE.
